For this week's analysis I am going to do an Literary Analysis of the readings. The section I will be analyzing form this week's readings is “THE ENLIGHTENMENT IN EUROPE AND THE AMERICAS”. The theme that I saw in this reading was what is enlightenment and why is it significant and how the world changed because of it. What this symbolizes to me is that this is a moment in time were education became something very important in the world and had great influence even today. This could be a metaphor for some bigger message the author wants to discuss or convey to the readers like the thought processes of human and why they act the way they. The context of of this historical passage came to inform us about the 18th century movement that changed the world with intellectual, philosophical, and science. This element tells me that the authors work chooses to inform us about some history. This connects to the work because in some way the author want to discuss human life and its progression. The literary device I want to use is plot because it talks about a progression in how the enlightenment came about and why. It talks about that there was a time before the enlightenment were there was chaos and turmoil in humanity. But when the enlightenment came about people saw that as a way to give meaning and explanation to human life on many different level and aspects. They used sub topics such as society, gender, race, just plain human nature to explore the effects of enlightenment on these areas of American society in the late 18th century. I liked using the literary device plot because it is the simplest way to understand a story from beginning to end that comes together to make up a story.

ReplyDeleteEven though you feel like you messed up, I thought it was very informative. It showed that you understood the material you were reading. I often have to read things two to three times to fully understand what I read but with your analysis I did not have to do that so I enjoyed reading it.

ReplyDeleteDon't feel that you have messed up doing this assignment. You have found a lot of key information in the reading that you asked to find and present. I find it easier if I write on a piece of paper the main things to discuss and then fill the details in on the paper before writing it out online. You seem to show a great understanding of the material and pointed out all of the right details! I knew what you were trying to convey.
