Reading Notes W2: Introduction: The Enlightenment in Europe and the Americas, Part A

This is the first reading of the class I do say it was a lot to digest couple of pages talk a lot about human nature and understanding of what humans roles are in society as well as touch a bit into race and women roles as well. Which the overall topic they were discussions was trying to find or figure what enlightenment is and some of these topics play into that. One of the passages sanded out to me in Martin Puchner "The Enlightenment in Europe and the Americas " talked a lot about the the philosophic part which everyone thinks about at one point in are life, is there more than what we see and does that effect use in who we are as a person and as human beings. "If contemplating the nature of human reason led philosophic skeptics to doubt our ability to know anything with certainty, other thinkers insisted on the existence, beyond ourselves, of an entirely rational physical and moral universe "( p. 92). This interesting because based on what I read the both kind of judge humanity objectively and unbiased. I believe they did this to give the readers there own point of view on enlightenment and humans.  

Time Strategies

This first week was a little hectic for so thats why I'm a bit off with my time management. This second I should back in my groove with how I keep track of homework and when its due for all of my class plus I also have like a scheduler if that is the correct word were I write down my assignments and the date it due which helps me out a lot. I also due bookmark all the sites I use for each class in a folder. All that leaves is figuring out the time to do the assignments and remembering to check this class wiki page.

Technology

Everything on the course tools page I feel comfortable with except this new blogging thing and using wikis instead of canvas which both will take sometime to get used to. This all seems pretty start forward so I do not have any questions right now but when I do I will definitely ask.

Growth Mindset

I think I see myself as a growth mindset spectrum more than a fixed mindset. I do think i am more closer to a fixed mindset when it comes to school more specifically when it comes to test, quizzes, and exams but not completely. What I have learned about myself as a learner is it might my take me some time to learn something but that also happens to be the time when I learn the most as well as new things when I try to learn something new. My biggest challenge when it comes to learning new things is my attention span because if I give my mind just the finest space it will wonder off. I would definitely like to learn more about growth mindset this semester because I have always thought about education and the process of what is the best way to learn. I think think my goal this semester like ever other semester is to learn something new and to improve myself as a student or should I say an active learner. I would have to say I am really excited about all of my classes this semester they all seem pretty interesting. 

Introduction to me

The best class I have taken so far is BIOSC 008 Human Biology. What I liked about the human biology class was due to many things not just the subject. It was a fun class to go to because of the teacher and my classmates made it fun, with cool activities and engaging conversation. It was also a bonus that we didn't have homework or quiz because she substituted them for other activities that helped use reenforce the material that we learned. I would say one of my biggest accomplishments was making this far and be able to attend college. During break i really didn't go anywhere or do anything exciting. I just mostly chilled with my friend who were back from school we did things like go to the movies, play video, go out to eat, and just plan do random stuff. I don't really have a favorite
book or movies but I do like sci fi genre. My favorite tv show is the CW's flash or the magicians. I would say the best movie I have seen recently was The Shape of Water. What I really watch most of the time is anime as well as other foreign shows. I don't have a favorite genre or song in music I like what ever sounds good to me or either makes me feel a particle emotion. My career goal is to be a programer for what specifically not totally sure just yet. My short term goals right now is just to make it to the end of this semester in one piece. I don't have a long term goal right now so I will just say enjoy like. My practical goal is to improve on some of my skills like time management, communication, and organization as well as many others. My big dream is to reach the point in my life were I don't have to do anything but look forward to sleeping all the time. I have two dog they are both jack Russell is named lamb because she is fat and white while the other is named snotty because of his personality. I think my would each describe me differently but the main points would be weird, a mystery, and always lost in thought.
